Malta —> Prague – One week down, 55 to go

Hey fam,

I’m sitting in our new hostel in Prague. It’s called Hostel One Home. It’s pretty cool so far. They have a laundry service for about $5 so that makes it worth the price of admission.

So I haven’t posted in a few days, but I’ll try to give a quick update…

So Tuesday and Wednesday were not interesting…at all…we worked. Obviously it’s a good/bad split. We don’t get to explore, but we obviously need money to explore so we have to work. I honestly enjoy getting to work though like I said in the previous post. I think part of it is that I have so much to learn about owning a business, CL’s business itself, my role in her business, and how to work for myself. It’s been a learning experience, but I’ve enjoyed the challenge. The good thing is that we found a Costa Coffee shop nearby our hostel that had reliable internet and a cool view.

Our last night in Malta was nice. We made friends with the lady who managed the place. Since we had no hot water while we stayed there she hooked us up with our own room (we had been staying in an 8 bed room for the previous week). It felt nice to set our stuff wherever we wanted and to have privacy. We watched an episode of The Crown (it’s on Netflix and it’s amazing) then talked to our sister-in-law Amy, then finished up packing and went to bed. The next day we lounged in the morning and worked a bit then headed to Prague.

So we moved on to Prague. The best part about Prague is that we’re meeting CL’s brother Ryan! He’s been traveling around the world since May and decided to meet up with us in Prague. It’s been good to see him and catch up. He’s going on a three week African camping trip later this week. Crazy stuff, but sounds cool!

We spent Friday doing the “typical” walk down tourist alley. We went to the Christmas Market (which smells amazing), then walked across the Old Charles Bridge, then went up to see the King’s Castle. The whole thing was great. It’s about 40 degrees here so it’s a little chilly, but our cold gear is keeping us warm. We had to stop at a Starbucks (of course) to get some coffee lol. We also stopped at a place along the way to get some Trdelnik. They are amazing. It’s basically a warm donut that has cinnamon all over it. It’s amazing! Really healthy too 😉

Once we made it to the Castle I was again blown away by the cathedral. We didn’t even go inside, but the uplighting and detail is incredible. Like most things I post here, the pics just don’t do it justice at all! Those emojis are my face as I took these.

Prague overall has been really fun so far. It’s so amazing how old everything is and how much history occurred here. The hostel has also been pretty fun. It’s a “party” hostel so it’s pretty lively, but the people are easy going and fun. We haven’t done any work yet, but we want to prioritize spending time with Ryan while we can. It’s so cool to share this kind of experience with family.

I’m still doing well with doing this travel thing full time. I took my first warm/hot shower today. It was incredible and everything I remembered it to be. We had cold water in Malta and randomly here the first day. I’m also really enjoying exploring these two cities. We use maps when we have to, but we’re trying not to so we can be looking up instead of at our phones the whole time. I feel like my sense of direction and planning personality are in full use here. It also hasn’t been too bad to “live out of a suitcase”. I would obviously prefer having my own room and not having to tip toe around when people sleep, but it’s been worth it to save some coin and meet people from all over the world.

I’ll leave you with my favorite video from the trip so far. I love my wife…

“Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—I took the one less traveled by”

We love and miss you all!
