Hey friends,
We spent our first full day exploring the city of Valletta. Malta itself is a very historical country and Valletta seems to be it’s hub. There were beautiful churches on every corner. St. John’s Cathedral as especially beautiful! I took a picture of it on Snapchat if you want to check it out.
We worked for about 3 hours in a Costa Coffee shop. It’s basically Starbucks, but with red as a primary color instead of green. The coffee was good and we eventually snagged the only plug-in in the place so we could charge all 392 devices we have 😉
Then we wondered around afterwards to find some lunch. After casually wondering around for about half an hour and going to a place we found on Google (which is the most incredible thing for travel) that ended up being a little steep, we found Cafe Rocher. We split a pizza and bottled water for 6 Euro! It was actually really good and amazingly cheap. Travel win for us.
Then we spent the rest of the afternoon exploring. We tried to go inside St. John’s Cathedral, but it was closed 🙁 then we wondered down to one of the coasts. We found the Upper Barrakka Gardens, which were incredible. It has an amazing view of the bay. After that CL had to make a call for work. We tried to figure out where we wanted to go where it was quiet and there was wifi. Our obvious choice was McDonalds on a Friday night *shrug*. It ended up being really stressful for CL. There was a bunch of middle school aged kids making a ton of noise right when CL tried to call. Needless to say it was hectic for her.
After that we grabbed a bottle of wine and headed back to the Hostel. We
hung out with some of our roommates. Jorn Bjorn was from Norway, Johnny is from London, Joe was from California, Gio is the host and she’s from Spain, & Mari and I’m blanking on where she’s from. It was really fun and relaxing. We talked about culture, diving (which is huge here because of all the shipwrecks), and all sorts of things.
It was a full day! Needless to say we’re tired today and getting off to a slow start today!
